Law Enforcement Training Range Installation
Indoor ballistic, acoustic, and overhead safety systems installation
Private Law Enforcement Indoor Range Installation – Buffalo, NY
Overview
This project involved the installation of a complete indoor shooting range system for a private law enforcement training facility in Buffalo, New York. East Coast Installation Group performed professional installation services for ballistic, acoustic, and overhead safety systems designed to support high-volume law enforcement training.
The range was configured to provide full ballistic coverage, sound control, and long-term durability while meeting the operational demands of a professional training environment.
Planning
Project planning focused on coordinating multiple integrated range systems within a confined indoor space while maintaining strict ballistic integrity. Layouts, suspension points, and access requirements were reviewed in advance to ensure compatibility with the building structure and to prevent conflicts with other trades.
Key planning considerations included:
Structural coordination for ceiling-mounted safety and baffle systems
Verification of clearances and access paths for installation
Sequencing of work to protect ballistic components during installation
Compliance with the manufacturer's dimensional and load requirements
Regulatory & Safety Considerations
All work was performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and recognized best practices for indoor law enforcement shooting ranges.
Safety considerations included:
Ballistic coverage extending beyond projectile trajectory requirements
Ammunition restrictions consistent with system design limitations
Structural verification to support imposed equipment loads
Installation conditions were maintained to ensure proper curing of adhesives
Construction / Installation Process
The project was executed in defined phases to ensure accuracy, safety, and system performance.
Acoustic Wall Systems: Installed acoustic dura-panel wall systems along up-range, down-range, and side walls to manage sound and improve training conditions. Panels were installed in a staggered pattern and field-finished per manufacturer specifications.
Tactical Steel & Rubber Walls: Installed AR500 tactical steel wall systems with integrated rubber panels to enhance ballistic protection in critical impact areas.
Overhead Safety Ceiling: Installed an AR500 steel safety ceiling system suspended from Unistrut support assemblies to provide overhead ballistic protection throughout the range.
Suspended Baffle System: Installed a multi-row AR500 suspended baffle system with gap protectors to control projectile trajectory and reduce ricochet risk.
Ballistic Bullet Trap: Installed a hopperless granular rubber bullet trap system, incorporating steel decking, AR500 shield assemblies, and layered granular rubber media treated with fire-resistant coating.
Support & Suspension Infrastructure: Installed Unistrut ceiling support systems, beam clamps, and anchors to properly distribute loads and support all suspended range components.
Maintenance and Upkeep
The installed systems were designed for long-term operational reliability with defined maintenance requirements.
Maintenance considerations included:
Routine inspection of baffles, safety ceiling panels, and suspension hardware
Monitoring and maintenance of granular rubber media and coatings
Periodic inspection of acoustic and rubber wall systems
Conclusion
The successful completion of this indoor range installation in Buffalo, New York, demonstrates East Coast Installation Group’s capability to deliver complex, fully integrated range systems for law enforcement training facilities. Through careful planning, precise installation, and strict adherence to manufacturer specifications, the facility was equipped with durable, safety-focused systems designed for sustained training use.
